Mid 2018-- tariffs, threatened boycotts, unsettling trust-based scrutiny, talent mobility hindrances, wasteful diversions of cash flow-- all like water seeking a new route, the combined uncertainty is creeping in to affect how new ideas will be commercialized or not. Posturing politics trumps breakthrough science forcing sub optimizing businesses to adapt to a painful new world creating new winners and losers not based on a meritocracy of ideas. Hard to see the upside? Or maybe the seismic jolt will steady out for another century. One thing is sure, the restless minds of innovators pressed by massive negative environmental conditions- survival- the mother of all invention- will press ahead like water always finding the ocean. Innovators might flock to different innovation hubs around the world as commercialization thrives in open collaboration.
