In our last newsletter for 2017, we see the transformation of the old line automotive industry on all fronts as a key driver of global innovation. Just look at the global technology hotspots to feel frenetic activity on mobility areas and contemplation of what change means. For example, local mechanics will only rotate tires and do a few minor service items over the first 100,000 miles of an EV— no more oil changes, fluid changes, tune ups, transmissions…you get the idea. Studying this change-seeking new value propositions are thousands of entrepreneurs dwelling in startups, incubators, even internal disruptive teams inside traditional companies-- firing on all cylinders to change transportation and city life in one digital burst and to get a piece of the action. 2018 will be more interesting as the fall-out of change defines winners and losers more clearly.
